This small program renders windowless 3D content to the desktop. It requires Windows 2000 or later and 3D graphics card supporting frame buffer objects.

Purpose

The purpose of layered metaballs is to demonstrate that it is possible to render 3D windowless content on the desktop. This 3D content be can be rendered at any size, any position, and with per pixel transparency. The content can be stacked on top or behind windows, and will not interfere with the drawing space of other applications.
